Six characters axed in new producer shake-up

The new producer made a big impression on his first day as EastEnders FanFiction producer as he called time in six of the show's stars.

The most high profile casualty is Roxy Mitchell, played by Rita Simons, who has been appearing on the show for nearly ten years. 

Another long running character Whitney Dean will be leaving the show later this year. 

Lisa Hammond, who has been appearing in EastEnders as Donna Yates for two years, will also be leaving the show.

The final three characters to be leaving the show are all characters we haven't known for long, with Paul Coker, Kyle Slater and Andy Flynn all set to depart the soap.

The Producer said of all the characters 'Each and every one of these actors has done themselves proud for their service on EastEnders, and they've all been part of EastEnders in their own way. None of them are bad characters by any means, but sometimes it feels right for characters to move on, and these are just examples of that. We wish Rita, Shona, Lisa, Jonny, Riley and Jack all the best in the future.'
